Bridgewater Kinsmen K-9 Donation Update
At the January 19th meeting of the Bridgewater & Area Kinsmen, we passed a motion to donate $1,000.00 towards the Police Dog Project.
On March 23, 2016, the Bridgewater Police Service announced on the arrival of its new K-9 member from Frankfurt, Germany. To come up with a name, the Bridgewater Elementary School arranged a naming contest. On March 24, it was announced the name of the dog will be “Davis”. This name was chosen to honour CPL. Paul Davis, a Bridgewater native who was killed in Afghanistan 10 years ago. Through an interview process, Constable Morgan Gibson a nine year veteran, was chosen as the new dog handler. Constable Gibson indicated; “It will be a huge asset for our department, helping patrol officers on files involving break and enter, locating property related to crime, then once the dog has his drug certification, it will be able to assist in drug searches.”
