The Kinette Club of New Glasgow Serves Patrons From Local Shepherd’s Lunch Room
On Monday March 7 2016, members of the Kinette Club of New Glasgow provided, prepared and served a hot meal at The Shepherd’s lunch Room in New Glasgow. The meal provided was hamburg with gravy, potatoes, vegetables and desert. It was a hit with the patrons who were thankful to receive a hot meal that day. A total of 200 meals were prepared with 120 patrons being served. All remaining meals were packaged and sent to Tearman House which is a local women’s shelter and to the Life Centre (shelter for the homeless).
The Shepherd’s Lunch Room is a registered charity and non-profit society who’s mission is to provide nourishment to the hungry in our community. When the lunch room first opened they served only a handful of patrons and today they are open 2 days a week where they can provide 90-140 lunches per day. It should be noted that the Kinette Club of New Glasgow was the first service group to partner with the Shepherd Lunch Room. We are looking forward to continuing to provide much needed meals as this certainly is one of the community’s greatest need.
