Atlantic Tides – Marketing and Communications
Why using video in social media is more effective!
Social media tip
Does your club, zone, and district use videos as part of your marketing and communications strategy? You should be! Here’s why!
– People don’t like to read. They are much more likely to consume content that is easy. Videos grab our attention more and can increase the number of views by 48%. Viewers also retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to 10% when reading it in text. (Source: https://biteable.com/blog/tips/video-marketing-statistics/)
You don’t need a lot of time, a big budget, or fancy video equipment and software to make a great video. Everyday viewers don’t actually expect production quality video. Simply record a video on your cell phone and post it to your social media.
Video can be used as an internal communication tool to help get information out to your club, zone, or district. If you are a leader at any of these levels, film a quick video and post it in your Facebook groups to spread the word about upcoming deadlines, events, or other important information.
You should also use videos as part of your external marketing and communications strategy to engage more donors and prospective volunteers, members, and community partners. Film a quick video with information about your upcoming event or fundraiser. Show your club in action with a video of your members making a donation or giving their time to make a difference. You can even ask the programs and organizations you support to do a quick video sharing the impact your club’s donation of time or money has made on them.
Tip: Videos under two minutes long get the most engagement (Source: Wistia) so try to keep your videos succinct.
