Calling all Kin! CF Canada’s current advocacy initiative

Posted By on May 12, 2021

Dear Kin Members:

Thank you for your continued support of Canadians with cystic fibrosis and CF Canada.

CF Canada is continuing the fight to gain access to life changing medicines by launching the #CFcantwait Provincial Meeting Challenge.

During the month of May, CF Canada is calling on the cystic fibrosis and wider community to meet with as many provincial elected officials as possible in the lead up to critical decisions on Trikafta – the newest miracle drug for those with cystic fibrosis. Trikafta has helped people with CF get off the lung transplant list and get on with living. We need your help to get this game changing medication into the hands of those who need it.

We are asking provincial elected officials to call on their Ministers of Health and Premiers to commit now to funding Trikafta, and other CF modulators Orkambi and Kalydeco, immediately upon Health Canada’s approval of Trikafta.

We are running this initiative together with the incredible volunteers in our National Advocacy Network and wider cystic fibrosis community. With 720 ridings in Canada, we need the support of Kin to ensure there are no gaps in ridings across the country. Kin was a huge part of our success in CF Canada’s Federal Meeting Challenge last year, and we hope to continue our partnership in advocacy again.

You don’t need to be an experienced advocate to participate in the Challenge. Our team at CF Canada can help you set up your meeting, and if you like, we can connect you to other advocates in our Network who can attend your meetings with you. You can also register for one of our weekly update briefings here or watch one of the recorded sessions on our website.

Getting involved is easy – all you have to do is indicate your interest! To participate in the Challenge, please email hdolhai@cysticfibrosis.ca and jharbin@cysticfibrosis.ca.

Together in the fight,

Kim Steele, Jen Harbin & Hannah Dolhai
